Moving Independence Foward...Together
A cohesive, united, and educated City Council allows for positive solutions:
Council has formed a cooperative group that works to include the variety of ideas, research, and opinions individual members provide. Throughout my tenure on City Council, I believe I have brought an additional voice of the people and added to the positive climate.
Independence City Council meetings should always demonstrate civility and open dialogue in the legislative process:
Citizens deserve a representative who can work with others to accomplish the goals of the people. It is my experience that working together with others having differing points of view results in the best solutions. We can then approach issues, accept input, and keep individual personalities aside as we solve problems.
It is important for residents to interact with members of City Council:
In the past three election cycles, I have listened to hundreds of residents and visited virtually all of the over 3,000 households in Independence. I value your input and feel it is necessary to carry those concerns to City decision making.
Being responsive to the Citizens of Independence and their concerns in a high priority:
I believe that important issues in the community require careful deliberation by our Council. The key to democratic government is giving the citizens the opportunity to provide input to their representatives. The representatives then can reflect the will of the people in their vote on proposed legislation.
